AUSTIN -- Festivities surrounding the presidential inauguration this weekend has an Austin middle school band heading to Washington D.C.
Bailey Middle School's wind ensemble band is preparing for Saturday's Inauguration Festival Competition.
The 61 student ensemble is one of three in Texas invited to participate. They'll perform three songs to be judged against others around the nation.
Students say the opportunity is a once in a lifetime chance.
"I was excited, and that inspired me to keep going, and have some fun with it," said band student Tyler Crank.
After competing, the band will stay through Inauguration Day to watch the swearing-in ceremony and visit museums.
