AUSTIN -- Fifty World War II veterans from the Austin area are in Washington, D.C Tuesday night thanks to Honor Flight Austin.
The group met at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Tuesday morning for a ceremony before beginning their trip.
Honor Flight raises money to take veterans from around the country to see the monument dedicated to their sacrifice.
Many of the veterans are now in their 80s and 90s and have never seen the World War II memorial.
