AUSTIN -- Austin Water crews will work through the weekend to clean up a sewage spill in South Austin.
It happened Thursday morning near Brodie Lane and Lost Oasis Hollow.
About 90,000 gallons of sewage went into a tributary of Bear Creek but didn't reach the creek itself.
Residents should avoid the area until the mess is cleaned up. The spill did not affect drinking water. However, if you live within a half mile and have a private well, Austin Water will test your water for free to make sure it's safe.
