AUSTIN -- Celebrating businesses that give back was the idea behind Austin Gives' first annual award luncheon. Held Tuesday at the Hilton downtown, the event honored three local leaders in philanthropy who have made a difference in the Austin community.

  •    Harden Healthcare supports numerous non-profits through donations and company-wide volunteer opportunities.
  •    BuildASign.com's efforts include creating free banners for military families to use to welcome home loved ones returning from deployment.
  •    Give Realty gives 25 percent of its commissions given to charities of its clients’ choice, donating a total of $227,800 since 2008.

The GeneroCity Award recipients were selected by a panel of local community leaders. The event recognized all participants in Austin Gives -- the local businesses who donate 1% or more of pretax earnings to philanthropy.

Austin Gives was formed through a collaboration of Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Entrepreneurs Foundation, Austin Community Foundation, The United Way for Greater Austin, Successful Giving, and I Live Here, I Give Here.
