AUSTIN -- Animal shelters in Austin are asking for help dealing with an influx of kittens and cats.

The Austin Animal Center, Austin Humane Society and Austin Pets Alive! say they have each taken in too many cats and kittens and are therefore overcrowded.

AAC has almost 600 cats, Austin Pets Alive! has close to 900, and AHS has taken in more than 300.

All three agencies are waiving fees on cat and kitten adoptions to help ease the problem and give these felines a loving home. You can help by adopting a cat or kitten between July 19 and July 21.
