Travis Baczewski pleaded guilty to first degree murder Friday morning, getting 50 years in prison.

Baczewski was arrested near the Texas-Mexico border last July for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police used gas station surveillance video to find out Baczewski was driving his father's car without permission. That car was missing from the murder scene of Baczewski's mother.

The body of his mother, 54-year-old Violetta Baczewski was found inside her home on Old Manchaca Road after relatives called police when they could not get in touch with her.

The arrest affidavit for Baczewski says he was reported AWOL by the Army and that the victim had discovered guns and money missing from the home just days before the murder.
