AUSTIN -- Austin police file intoxication assault charges against a woman they say struck and injured a pedestrian in downtown Austin.
Officers say Brenda Carielo, 21, hit a person in the crosswalk at 8th Street and Trinity Street last month. That person suffered a lacerated liver.
Police say when they arrested Carielo, she had a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit.
Carielo reportedly admitted consuming three Long Island iced teas, two shots and four beers in less than three hours.
Carielo is not yet in police custody.
