AUSTIN -- Five people are in the hospital after a truck crashed into a van during a police pursuit Thursday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department says the incident began at a house in the 9900 block of Childress. Police said they received a 911 call just after 2 p.m. of burglars in the house.
The burglars got into a red pickup truck that police pursued. That truck crashed into a Chevy van at the intersection of Cameron and Rutherford around 2:15 p.m.
Police says four people were in the truck. They were all taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. One of those had life-threatening injuries. The other three sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevy van was the only occupant of their vehicle, and was also taken to UMC Brackenridge with non life-threatening injuries.
