AUSTIN -- Police have released the name of the 93-year-old man killed in a rollover accident over the weekend.
Ramon Samilpa died Saturday night after his pick up truck rolled over him at a South Austin gas station.
It happened around 5 p.m. at the Mets Food Mart on William Cannon. Witnesses say the 93-year-old man left his cane at the store and had come back for it.
When he returned to his Dodge Dakota, witnesses say he got in, but his hood was popped. He got back out and pushed it down. His truck started rolling before he could get back in. Witnesses say he tried to hold onto the truck.
When it got near the pump, the man fell, and that's when the truck rolled over him.
He died at the scene.
This is Austin's fourth traffic fatality of the year.
