Staying in shape during and after pregnancy can be a real challenge. Now, an Austin physical trainer is taking the guess-work out of staying healthy before and after the baby arrives.

As a physical trainer at big box gyms, Tatum Rebelle says she couldn't help but notice women slowly stop going to the gym after they got pregnant, many of whom never returned after giving birth.

That's why she started "Total Mommy Fitness."

Sisters Gabi Dupler and Mari Garner are both expecting their first children in late January.

The soon-to-be Austin moms are among the first to work out with Rebelle.

"I can bring fitness to them so they don't have to go out of their way and we really try to make it realistic in their lives," said Rebelle.

As a trainer, Rebelle saw the challenges expectant moms faced trying to keep in shape.

"It's like mind numbing fatigue, and so you couldn't work out as long and you were always sick all the time," said Dupler.

Rebelle starts by making fitness convenient, working out in the home, and making it work with their changing bodies.

"Being able to come here and modify, make it work with the belly, is going to be a big benefit," said Dupler.

Total Mommy Fitness is more than keeping off the baby weight. Rebelle works with her client's OB/GYN for a holistic approach to health care and nutrition. Trainers will go grocery shopping with clients to help them make the best possible choices.

The moms say Rebelle's program is about living a healthy lifestyle.

"Being with Tatum and having her guide us, it teaches us that great middle ground, which you can pass on to your family," said Garner.

It also sets the foundation for a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and motherhood.

"This is probably the most physically demanding thing a woman will ever do in her life and so it's important to be well trained for it," said Rebelle.

Training with Total Mommy Fitness starts at $75 a month.
