3 women killed in bus crash

TRAVIS COUNTY - Three young women are dead after their car collided with a bus off of State Highway 71 near Spicewood late Saturday night.

DPS said that June Smith, 18, Isabella Torres, 17, and Taylor Mendez, 17, all of Round Rock, were killed in the crash. All three were in the car. Smith was driving and Torres and Mendez were passengers.

Austin-Travis County EMS said the crash happened around midnight near the Travis and Blanco county lines at Fall Creek Road.

No one on the bus was injured, but all three women in the car died.

Huston-Tillotson University said Sunday afternoon on their Facebook page that the bus was carrying the school's baseball team as they traveled back from Hobbs, New Mexico. None of the baseball players or coaching staff were injured, according to the university.

Investigators have not said what caused the crash yet.
