2 teens who died in vehicle fire on Riverside Drive were racing another vehicle

AUSTIN - Two teens who died in a vehicle fire on Riverside Drive Saturday were racing with another vehicle, police said in a statement Thursday.

According to the Austin Police Department, 18-year-old Anderson Palma-Rodriguez was racing another vehicle westbound on East Riverside Drive when he lost control and struck a billboard post. The vehicle then caught fire, killing Palma-Rodriguez and the other passenger in his vehicle.

According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Statesman, the passenger in the vehicle was 19-year-old Brianna Moreno.
