Road rage incident puts 2 schools on lockdown

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS - Two Round Rock schools were placed on lockdown for some time Wednesday after a reported road rage incident.

Round Rock police said they were looking for a suspect in the area of Bass Loop and Perch Trail after there were reports of a driver pointing a gun at another car at around 2:20 p.m. KVUE's Tina Shively said the driver, who was possibly armed, fled from police on foot.

This prompted Union Hill Elementary School and Hopewell Middle School to go on lockdown.

At 4:25 p.m., police said the suspect has been identified and that the investigation is ongoing. Police told Shively that the driver left behind a female passenger in his car, so police are interviewing her for information. Shively said that police searched for the suspect by air, from door to door and with a K9, but did not find him.

Police told Shively they believe the driver may have called a friend to pick him up.
