AUSTIN, Texas — Police have arrested an Austin man who is accused of leaving his young daughter alone in a car and then forgetting where the vehicle was parked.

The Austin American-Statesman reports Patrick Husband has been charged with endangering a child for leaving his 22-month-old daughter alone.
According to an arrest affidavit, the 27-year-old father gave different accounts of what happened when he couldn’t find the vehicle Tuesday evening, including claiming that the vehicle had been stolen.
One of Husband's accounts of the night's events included him getting two flat tires on the way to a grocery store. He said once he reached the store, he left his daughter in the vehicle. When he came out, he says the vehicle wasn't where he'd left it. He didn't call police or the mother of the child to report his missing child or the vehicle. Instead, he walked a mile to a gas station, purchased an alcoholic drink.
Police say Husband told authorities that he had up to four drinks during the evening.
Police found the car with the girl inside less than a block away from where Husband had claimed he had left it. It was located at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Wells Port Drive.
Husband remains jailed on $40,000 bail. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
