5 stung in Pease Park bee attack

AUSTIN - Two people were taken to the hospital after bees attacked five people in Pease Park on Tuesday.

Austin police said officers were called to the park around 100 feet south of the 24th Street Bridge around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for the bees. Austin-Travis County EMS said that the two joggers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Central Texas Bee Rescue was called, who said the bees are in the hollow branch of a tree and that it will take weeks to remove the hive. The area has been cordoned off and people are advised to stay clear of the area for the time being.
