Men seriously injured in NW Austin bee swarm attack

AUSTIN – Two men have been taken to the hospital after they were attacked by a swarm of bees early Wednesday afternoon.

Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS said they responded to the area of Evangeline and Magnolia Mound Trails around 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6. EMS said two men, one in his 50s and the other in his 30s, were taken to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center with serious injuries. Medics reported the men had been stung 50-100 times.

AFD said they have two units on scene, and have requested a beekeeper to assist.
