Fire damages vacant south Austin home

AUSTIN – Investigators are working to determine what started a fire inside a vacant home late Monday night.

Austin Fire Department said they were called to Cherrydale Drive, near William Cannon and Manchaca, shortly after 12 a.m. Tuesday. The fire started in the attic of the home and destroyed around 40 percent of the roof.

The house was on the market to be sold, and no one was inside the home. A monetary estimate on damage to the home has not been released as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.
