Leander students see DWI dangers in mock crash

Leander High School has become the backdrop for a mock drunk driving accident. KVUE News Leander High School students demonstrated the dangers of drunk driving in a mock crash. The disturbing scenario is part of the "Shattered Dreams" program. I ts aim is to show teens the life and death dangers of drinking and driving. During the event there will be several students who role play students that are "injured" or "killed" as the result of the fake alcohol-related accident. One student will be flown to Round Rock Hospital via STAT-Air. One student will be "arrested" and charged with DWI-related charges. The program begins Thursday with the mock-DWI accident. It will conclude Friday March 10 with a mock-funeral for the accident victims. The Shattered Dreams program was developed in 1998.
