Central Texas VA offering seasonal flu vaccinations

The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is offering enrolled veterans free seasonal flu vaccines at all of their Central Texas facilities until the end of September.

CTVHCS said veterans enrolled in the health care system can receive their flu vaccination at “any VA medical center or outpatient facility throughout Central Texas at the Veteran’s Primary Care Aligned Team (PACT).” The vaccination provided is to protect against the strains "A/California/7/2009 (H1N1) pdm-like virus, A/Hong Kong/4801/2014 (H3N2)-like virus; and B/Brisbane/60/2008 like virus (this is B/Victoria lineage virus)," CTVHCS added.

The vaccines will be available at the following CTVHCS walk-in clinic locations:

  • Temple: Teague Hospital (Building 204) waiting area at Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center; 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive
  • Waco: Room BA165 in the basement of Building 4 at the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center; 4800 Memorial Drive
  • Austin: Lobby of Austin Outpatient Clinic; 7901 Metropolis Drive

CTVHCS added veterans currently enrolled in VA care can also walk into any Walgreens location to receive a flu vaccination at no cost.
