DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden says his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, has had a successful medical procedure in Texas, where he was being evaluated at a cancer center.
The vice president was scheduled to headline a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee at the home of Alison and Bill Vareika. Alison Vareika says the event has been called off so Biden could remain in Houston while his son was being evaluated..
Biden's son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, felt weak and disoriented last week and was admitted to a Chicago-area hospital. He returned home but traveled a few days later to Houston for testing at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Biden and his wife, Jill, say their son is in great shape. They say he will be discharged from the hospital on Thursday and will return home. They say Beau Biden's local doctors will follow up in Delaware.
There was no immediate word of what type of procedure was performed.
The younger Biden, 44, also suffered a mild stroke in 2010.
