Swine flu vaccine distribution vexes Texas doctors

DALLAS -- More than a month after the swine flu vaccine began arriving in Texas, the doses are still arriving in fairly piecemeal fashion.

That's left many frustrated doctors who can't tell their patients exactly when it will arrive.

Some doctors say they've been getting enough to address their high-risk groups; others say they have gotten no doses at all yet.

Spokeswoman Carrie Williams of the Texas Department of State Health Services says that for now, the state is focusing on getting the vaccine to hospitals, private practices and local health departments.

She says that state has been allocated 3 million doses as of the end of last week, with the highest numbers going to hospitals.

what throws me is that private clinics are getting the dosages before hospitals and more important locations do. The clinic in Dallas that received 11K does and was busted for giving it to whomever for whatever price they could is a good example...they got 11K doses when the state itself received far less. Someone needs to lose their job that we are allowing this to occur. Hospitals and other more important locations should be the priority, not some clinic that will just hand them out to whomever hands them a greenback
