CHENEY, WA -- An Eastern Washington University student is training to run his way into the Guinness Book of World Records. The Spokane man hopes to set the record for the number of miles run in a 24-hour period on a treadmill.
In two weeks, 28-year-old David Reese will get on a treadmill at the EWU rec center and not get off for the entire day. He plans on running nearly 7 miles per hour. He will eat 300 calories an hour and will drink on the run.
Reese hopes to break the world record of 161 miles run on a treadmill in 24 consecutive hours.
He says breaking the record is second to what he really wants, to raise money for a charity called “Partners in Health.” Reese wants to raise at least $500 for the organization.
