SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- San Antonio College kicked off it's third annual Coming Out Week on Monday with several talks and events that encourage people to "come out" in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
"People, regardless of who they are, should be proud of who they are, and that goes for anyone," said English instructor Richard Farias. "We have Hispanic heritage we celebrate here at SAC. We have black history. We have women's history. And it's important to recognize the impact on history and culture that LGBT persons have had, both in the country and in the world."
Events at SAC include a community fair, a drag show and several panel talks. Similar events are happening around the country to commemorate the 1987 march on Washington for lesbian and gay rights.
