Thousands of people marched at Austin City Hall Sunday -- not in protest, but to raise money for the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Organizers of AIDS Walk Austin say there are about 6,000 people living with AIDS and HIV in the community.
The 3.1 mile walk benefits AIDS Services of Austin, a group that's served Central Texas for 22 years.
Proceeds will fund awareness and education campaigns and provide support for those with the disease.
"AIDS doesn't discriminate; AIDS is still here in Central Texas because we have people dying and dying alone, and we just need to take caution and be aware that this is still here," said Micha King, AIDS Services Austin.
Organizers of this year's AIDS Walk Austin hoped to raise $125,000.
