ARLINGTON, Texas – A tenth Tarrant County resident has died from West Nile, health officials say.

The victim was an Arlington man in his 70s with underlying health conditions, said Al Roy, spokesman for the Tarrant County Health Department. The announcement comes roughly one week since the county’s last West Nile-related death.

While temperatures dip outside, the health department warns West Nile is still a risk and advises residents to follow the 4 D’s, which we’ve again posted below.

  • Use insect repellents that contain DEET
  • Drain any standing water
  • Dress in long, loose and light-colored clothing
  • Take extra care to use repellent and protective clothing from Dusk to Dawn
