Rabies alerts issued after dead bats found

BUDA, Texas – The City of Buda has issued rabies alerts after two instances earlier this month in which dead bats were found in the city.

The city said one bat was found in the 100 block of Joy Hollow, just east of Whispering Hollow Park, around 6 p.m. Sept. 3. The other bat was found in the 400 block of Faircrest Drive, which is southwest of the Cabela’s, around 6 p.m. Sept. 7.

In both cases, the bats were found on the ground and were not able to be tested due to decomposition. The city added that “as a precaution the state treats these types of cases as a positive rabies case.”
