DETROIT, MICH. - A dog named “Boo” has captured the Internet’s collective heart after he was seen left in a pile of trash after his family was evicted from their Detroit home.
Boo, a three-year-old Pit Bull mix, was seen in a photo/plea posted by Facebook user Liz Marie sleeping on a mattress that was left with other personal belongings from the home. Marie begged for someone to help the dog and that’s where Detroit resident Mike Diesel comes in.
Diesel, who founded the Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, decided to try to help “Boo” out, but he couldn’t just pick up the dog.
In a phone interview with KVUE.com, Diesel said it took him two days to gain enough trust from the pooch to get him to come closer. Diesel said he worked on getting the dog for 11 hours straight at one point.
Once Diesel was able to unite with Boo, he took him to a Detroit-area vet who found that Boo was infected with stage two heartworms. But thanks to Diesel and the vet’s help, Boo is now recovering and is currently looking for a new home.
And Boo is looking for his forever home if you would like to help him out.
Diesel, whose organization is run by volunteers, said he’s rescued more than 80 dogs in the Detroit-area since it was founded in 2014.
