NEW YORK (AP) — From a television standpoint, Tom Selleck the police chief of New York may be a very good friend to Tom Selleck the police chief of Paradise, Mass.
The seventh installment of Selleck's "Jesse Stone" series of TV movies was seen by nearly 14 million people on CBS Sunday. The Nielsen Co. said the movie, where Selleck is in command in a fictional Massachusetts town, had an audience 21 percent bigger than the last Jesse Stone movie a year ago.
Selleck's profile may be higher due to "Blue Bloods," the CBS series where he plays the patriarch of a New York City law enforcement family.
Meanwhile, Katie Couric's finale as "CBS Evening News" anchor was seen by just under 6 million viewers last week.
