AUSTIN -- Opponents of the nearly billion-dollar AISD bond package watched election returns come in at the Boat House Grill in Austin Saturday night.
The Travis County Taxpayers Union has campaigned against the bonds all along, saying the district needs to spend the money it has wisely before voters give it more.
"We face so many tax increases, [we're the] highest-taxed metro county in Texas. And Texas is high when it comes to property taxes. So I think people just can't afford anymore," Don Zimmerman with the Travis County Taxpayers Union said.
Saturday night only two of the four propositions in the bond package passed.
