AUSTIN --The Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix races into town this weekend, but fans can enjoy a lot of what it has to offer without even setting foot on the track.
The F1 Fan Fest will bring a lot of race-themed fun straight to downtown Austin.
The event will shut down roads in a 12 block radius between 2nd Street and 5th Street, from Congress to San Antonio. Go here for a complete list of road closures.
There are activities for kids and families, including a zip-line and mechanical bull rides.
It wouldn't really be a festival in Austin without the music, so six separate stages will showcase performances by some big bands.
Something Austinites also love is to eat. Fan Fest will have offerings from local restaurants, pubs and food trucks.
Another bonus for big fans of Formula 1 -- superstar drivers competing in the U.S. Grand Prix will meet with fans at the festival during the weekend.
The party starts at 5 p.m. Thursday and at noon throughout the weekend.
The complete schedule for Austin Fan Fest is as follows:
- Thursday, Nov. 14: 5 p.m. to midnight
- Friday, Nov. 15: 10 a.m. to midnight
- Saturday, Nov. 16: 10 a.m. to midnight
- Sunday, Nov. 17: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m
