Waxahachie police: Dad came into hospital with gun to child's head

WAXAHACHIE -- Police say a father entered a Waxahachie hospital with a gun pointed at his child's head.

Authorities say the armed man entered Baylor Scott & White Medical Center with two children early Saturday evening and a lockdown and standoff ensued.

The man eventually surrendered and no one was injured.

"Situation has been resolved without injury," read a statement from Waxahachie police on its Facebook page. "You will continue to see the presence of law enforcement in the area as the investigation continues. Baylor Waxahachie will resume operation."

As the incident unfolded, people inside the hospital turned to social media to post images and updates from the scene.

Waxahachie police also posted an update on its Facebook page at about 7:10 p.m. that warned people to stay away from the hospital.

We will continue to update this story as more details become available.
