Round Rock police arrest bank robbery suspect

ROUND ROCK - Police arrested a man Tuesday who they believed robbed a Round Rock bank last week.

Round Rock PD said that the robbery happened at approximately 5:06 p.m. Sept. 2, at the Capital One Bank located at 901 Louis Henna Boulevard. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money from an employee. After receiving the money, the suspect fled on foot, heading northbound. There were no injuries in the incident.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, Round Rock PD responded to 670 Louis Henna Boulevard where there was an argument between a resident and a guest. The resident, identified as 19-year-old Steve Martinez, allegedly threatened the guest with a knife and had to be restrained until police arrived.

Martinez was taken to the hospital for injuries from the dispute. After he was discharged, police arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. During the follow-up investigation, Martinez told police that he committed the bank robbery at Capital One Bank. Detectives determined that he matched the description of the robbery suspect and images from surveillance video of the incident.

Martinez was taken to Williamson County Jail on the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and robbery charges on bonds totaling $185,000.
