AUSTIN - A 27-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly lured a woman inside his vehicle and sexually assaulted her at his apartment.
According to an arrest warrant, a woman left the OK Corral nightclub off of West Ben White Boulevard at around 2 a.m. Friday when she realized that her friends had left and that her phone had died. Her car was parked somewhere along Interstate 35, so she started to walk along the service road of Highway 71 in that direction.
As she was walking, a black Audi pulled up alongside her and the driver -- identified as Juan Alberto Izaguirre -- asked if she needed a ride. "The victim said she was hesitant to get in with Juan since he was a stranger but was desperate because she needed a ride and couldn't use her phone," the affidavit said.
When they started driving, the alleged victim said she noticed he was not driving toward where she told him her car was parked. He instead drove her to his apartment located off of Stassney Lane. The alleged victim said she did not want to go inside his apartment and that she was thirsty for water. The affidavit said that Izaguirre told her she could come inside for water and then he would drive her to her car.
Once inside his apartment, Izaguirre allegedly took her to his room and told her to be quiet. He then allegedly forced her to perform a sexual act on him for about 15 to 20 minutes while she continued to tell him, "no." Police said that when Izaguirre eventually stopped, she took the opportunity to run out of the apartment.
Police said she grabbed his car keys and phone and ran toward his vehicle. She said she tried to call 911 with his phone, but was having issues unlocking his phone. Police said they got into a physical and verbal exchange over his phone and keys.
Later, the alleged victim was able to flag someone down in the parking lot to call police. Police officers responded and later arrested Izaguirre. He was charged with sexual assault, a second degree felony. According to online records, he is currently in custody with a bond set at $100,000.
