Kidnapping suspect arrested at Iron Maiden concert after social media post

SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted by Austin police on an aggravated kidnapping warrant was arrested Saturday evening after a social media post indicated he would be attending an Iron Maiden concert.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested Derrick Roseland at the AT&T Center after receiving the tip. Austin police detectives spotted the post on a friend’s social media account and notified BCSO. The sheriff’s office said deputies went to the seats pictured and arrested Roseland without incident.

The arrest affidavit for Roseland stated police were attempting to apprehend him on June 12. Police said Roseland ditched a stolen car along the 6000 block of Belfast Drive and forced another person to drive him to the Jack in the Box at U.S. 183 and Loyola Lane. The victim told police Roseland yelled that he had a gun.

The affidavit states bond for Roseland has been set at $150,000, but he is not listed in the Travis County Jail as of 12 p.m. Monday.
