APD searching for man who allegedly tried to lure child into vehicle

Police are searching for the man they believe tried to lure a child into his vehicle last month.

The incident was reported to police around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in the 4500 block of Cat Mountain Dr. The suspect allegedly drove past a male juvenile before turning around and stopping next to the boy. The suspect allegedly cursed at the child and told him to get into his vehicle. The boy was able to run away and tell his parents.

APD did not provide a description of the suspect but said he was driving a single-cab pickup truck with "bright rainbow colors" going from the top to the bottom of the truck at a slant. The truck has running boards, a trailer hitch on the back and tinted windows. There is also a blue smudge approximately the size of a hand on the rear passenger tire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the APD Region 1 Detectives at 512-974-8146 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS. You can also submit tips with the Crime Stoppers app or APD's mobile app on iPhone or Android
