Man held girlfriend at knifepoint, gunpoint in motel, police say

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas -- Police have charged a man after a nearly 9-hour standoff at a Fredericksburg motel on Monday.

Fredericksburg police said they were called to the Dietzel Motel around 4:50 p.m. April 3 for a report of a man holding a knife to his girlfriend’s throat and pointed a gun at her during a disturbance. The victim was able to escape unharmed, but Honore Lira, 43, of Fredericksburg remained inside, which resulted in a standoff.

Lira was contained and repeated attempts to negotiate with him were unsuccessful. The San Antonio Police Department SWAT Team assisted Fredericksburg police in arresting Lira, which FPD said happened around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Lira has been booked into the Gillespie County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Online records state he is being held on combined $77,040, which includes a warrant from Blanco County.
