$184K seized in Williamson County traffic stop

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas – Deputies arrested two people Tuesday and seized more than $184,000 in cash after a traffic stop.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said Criminal Interdiction detectives stopped a 2014 Jeep traveling southbound along SH 130 near Texas 29 for a traffic violation around 2 p.m. June 13. The detectives noticed “numerous indicators” that lead them to believe the driver and passenger – Jorge David Canales, 26, and Cristina Nunez, 35 – were involved in criminal activity. The detectives obtained consent to search the vehicle, and the sheriff’s office said the detectives found $184,520 in a cardboard box in the Jeep’s back set.

Canales and Nunez have been charged with money laundering and were booked into the Williamson County Jail. Bond information for Canales and Nunez was not listed as of 10:55 a.m. Wednesday.
