AUSTIN - Police have filed a burglary charge against the man suspected in a 2015 arson in northeast Austin.
Raymond Bauer, 37, was arrested Oct. 10 on an arson charge. AFD investigators allege Bauer and another person broke into a home along the 9800 block of Middle Fiskville Road shortly before 12 a.m. Aug. 1, 2015 and stole weapons before starting a fire. The case went cold until September 2016, when Fort Hood police contacted APD to inform them they had located a weapon stolen from the home. Police tracked the stolen weapon to a Copperas Cove business, who identified the seller as Bauer.
Police and arson investigators spoke with Bauer, who admitted he helped steal the weapons from the home. Bauer denied starting the fire, claiming his accomplice did so while they were burglarizing the home.
Police have charged Bauer with felony burglary of a residence. Online records at the Travis County Jail do not list him as an inmate as of Wednesday afternoon. The Travis County Clerk’s Office shows Bauer posted bond on his arson charge on Oct. 13.
