FAYETTE COUNTY, TEXAS - A Zapata, Texas man was arrested Thursday morning after deputies located bundles of marijuana in an auxiliary gas tank in his truck.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner Lobos stopped a Ford F-150 along Interstate 10 near Flatonia around 11:30 a.m. Thursday for a traffic violation. The driver of the truck, Jose Armendo Arroyo, 39, reportedly exhibited “extremely abnormal nervous behavior,” the sheriff’s office said.
Arroyo consented to having his truck searched and Thumann observed the auxiliary fuel tank in the bed of the truck had 16 wrapped bundles of marijuana inside. The bundles had a reported weight of approximately 285 pounds and an estimated street value of $142,000.
Arroyo was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
