Police have charged two women who allegedly prostituted underage girls in the Austin area.
According to arrest affidavits, police have charged Keria Hall, 18, and Ebony Pettiford, 24, with felony criminal solicitation of a minor. The affidavit said police learned of the alleged prostitution ring from a relative of a victim, who called 911 around 10:55 p.m. May 16. Police said officers located Hall, Pettiford and two alleged victims (ages 16 and 17) at the intersection of North Lamar and East Rundberg Lane.
The affidavit states one girl told police Hall and Pettiford had been trying to convince the underage girls to start prostituting themselves for cash. She also said she had been trying to get away from the situation. The second girl told police Hall and Pettiford had tried to sell her to different men for sex “several times” that day.
The first girl also alleged Hall and Pettiford were going to assault the second because she failed to complete prostitution deals. A review of the girl’s cell phone showed messages between her and Hall that police said demonstrated Hall attempting to arrange the girl “to have sex with a man in exchange for something of value.”
Online records at the Travis County Jail state Hall and Pettiford are being held on $35,000 bond. Booking photos for Hall and Pettiford are not available as of 1 p.m. Friday.
