Round Rock man arrested on child porn charges

A 55-year-old Round Rock man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges.

Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office said the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) arrested Joe Lawrence Islas on three counts of child pornography on May 18. The CEU received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and executed a search warrant on his residence. Paxton’s office said child pornography was found “on a digital storage device” in the residence, and that additional devices will be examined by the attorney general’s Digital Forensics Unit.

Islas declined to be interviewed and was booked into the Williamson County Jail, Paxton's office said. Online jail records state Islas was released May 18 after posting the combined $60,000 bond.

If convicted, Islas faces up to 10 years in prison on each charge.
