AUSTIN -- The new Trader Joe's location on Bee Caves Road is scheduled to open on September 20, but before they can open the company needs to hire employees.
The 11,000 square foot store, located at 2805 Bee Caves Road will begin accepting applications in person on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. Applications can be found online or in the store.
Company spokesperson Alison Mochizuki says the company currently has no plans to announce any other stores in the area, though rumor has it two other stores are planned.
“At this time we do not have any additional stores to announce,” Mochizuki said.
The new employees, called “crew members” will wear Hawaiian-themed shirts.
Mochizuki says residents in the area should also expect to receive Trader Joe’s “Fearless Flyer” in their mailboxes, described as a cross between Consumer Reports and Mad Magazine, after the store opens.
Each edition highlights a selection of Trader Joe’s products that the company buyers believe are worthy of customer interest, including comfort foods and items that are organic or have other special attributes.
Trader Joe's carries an extensive array of domestic and imported foods and beverages including fresh baked artisan breads, Arabica bean coffees, international frozen entrées, 100% juices, fresh crop nuts, deli items, and vitamins and supplements, as well as the basics, like milk and eggs.
The grocery chain is known for providing value and unique products. Mochizuki says Trader Joes buys differently than other grocers by purchasing from manufacturers rather than distributors.
Trader Joe’s was founded in 1958 in the Los Angeles area. Since then, Trader Joe’s has expanded to more than 390 stores in 35 states.
