AUSTIN -- Time Warner Cable announced Wednesday that the company will deploy TWC WiFi™, a citywide WiFi hotspot network for its customers in Austin.
Access to the WiFi network will be free for Time Warner customers who have Standard Internet or above. Customers with Time Warner Cable Business Class Internet will also have access.
Time Warner says free Trial and Prepaid Access options starting at $2.95/hour are available on TWC WiFi™ for those not qualifying for free access.
“Increasingly, our Austin customers want to take their high-speed Internet with them out of the home and on-the-go,” said Area Vice President Kathy Brabson. “The TWC WiFi™ network we’re building for Austin will allow our customers to greatly maximize their TWC Internet subscription – at no additional charge.”
According to Time Warner, Austin customers can access a limited number of hotspots with hundreds more to become available in 2013 as Time Warner Cable builds out the network. TWC WiFi™ will be introduced at popular locations where residents eat, live and play like Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Lamar, Congress, 5th and 6th Streets.
To use the WiFi network, users should look for the TWC WiFi™ network name and then follow prompts to connect. To locate and access TWC WiFi™ hotspots, Time Warner's made available a free TWC WiFi™ Finder app available in Google Play and the Apple App Store or customers can visit www.twc.com/wificoverage to view the hotspot coverage map.
