AUSTIN -- In this Tech Tuesday, an Austin start-up is hoping to capture the workout crowd and the founder of Wikileaks will appear in Austin.
SXSW Interactive announced Tuesday Julian Assange will make a very rare live video appearance
Assange will be interviewed live March 8. The SXSW website says he will discuss the pervasive spread of surveillance, advantages and abuses of the digital age, and the future of democracy.
Assange has been in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since he was granted asylum in 2012.
As mentioned last week, wearable tech was the rage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. An Austin start-up was among them.
Atlas Wearable tracks your workout probably better than you could.
"It knows when you're doing bicep curls and when you switch to alternating bicep curls. There's a visual display, so you know when your form is off and when you cheat." said Peter Li, Atlas CEO and co-founder.
Li and his team collected and calibrated data from trainers, which Atlas compares with how you are performing.
It sees your movement in 3-D and is even compatible with other fitness apps.
The start-up is raising money by crowd-funding and is just over halfway to their goal.
