FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -- The manager of a Fairbanks restaurant quit after his Facebook post critical of military discounts went viral.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (http://is.gd/agWG60) Dusty Westbrook resigned as manager of the local Boston's the Gourmet Pizza.

The News-Miner says Westbrook complained in the post about requests for military discounts. The post said it's "pathetic" that military members expect discounts on their meals while other professionals like police officers and fire fighters don't receive them.

Westbrook told the newspaper he regretted the post, which he said he put up after having a few beers and seeing something on TV that prompted it.

His Facebook account has been deleted.

The Dallas-based chain apologized on its Facebook page, and said it strongly disagrees with the comment.

Fairbanks is home to two large military bases.
