AUSTIN -- Governor Rick Perry is reaching out to a Connecticut gun-maker, inviting them to do business in Texas.
On Wednesday PTR announced it would leave Connecticut after state lawmakers passed restrictive gun control legislation, according to the Associated Press.
Governor Rick Perry tweeted Friday morning, "Hey PTR...Texas is still wide open for business!! Come on down".
PTR said Wednesday that it doesn't know where it will go, but its more than 40 employees are willing to relocate. The Associated Press says the company makes military-style rifles.
The new Connecticut law adds to the state's assaults weapons ban and creates a Dangerous Weapon Offender registry.
PTR officials told the Associated Press that they were meeting with Texas officials who want to bring the company to the state, but no decision has been made on where they will relocate.
