Toyota is recalling more than 2.5 million cars.
There were problems with the all models of the Prius worldwide with the car's steering shaft and motor pumps.
Toyota says the cars could be damaged and not go into hybrid mode if they are not fixed. About 670,000 of the recalled Priuses were sold in the U.S.
The automaker plans to notify affected owners by mail starting in December.
