You drive a car with the "check engine" light on until it's time to get it inspected, then you get it fixed.

It's a terrible idea, but data shows a lot of us do it.

Thursday on WFAA at 4, we had a FaceTime interview with Kristin Brocoff of CarMD.com who warns of the dangers of leaving the light on, and she explains how many drivers might be able to turn the light off on their own for free.
