Bloomberg Texas Report: Leisure jobs lead the way for hiring

Employers in the state added 10,400 jobs in January and a total of 310,900 jobs over the past year. The unemployment rate rose slightly to 6.3 percent, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

Austin will be a bit more crowded with techies over the next week and a half attending the South by Southwest Festival and showcasing the latest and greatest in technology as well as music and film. The Austin Chamber of Commerce says the entire festival has a $190 million economic impact. And they say it's good for future business investments in Texas.

 

Texas based Whole Foods says all products at its stores in the U.S. and Canada will have labels showing that they contain genetically modified ingredients by 2018. The company says it's the first national grocery chain to set a deadline for labeling foods that contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
