Austin salons donate proceeds to help victims of explosion in West

AUSTIN -- A unique charity fundraiser Sunday to help victim's of last month's giant explosion in West.

The blast killed 15 people and damaged dozens of homes.

Stylists at three Austin salons donated their proceeds to a fund set up by Catholic Charities of Central Texas.

The stylists belong to a group called H-3 Austin, short for Hairdressers Helping Humanity.

"It's a great cause and i really think it's a great thing that hairdressers can come together and give of their time on a Sunday," said Michael Rosario, employee at the Beauty Store Salon and Spa in Northwest Austin.

Stylists at Luxe Apothetique on Second Street and the Stella Blue Boutique and Salon on South Congress Avenue also took part in the fundraiser.
